Fake News or True News? 1879 Western Canada Cover From Where?

FAKE NEWS? or TRUE NEWS?

An 1879 Cover Western Canada from where?

HELLO COLLECTORS,

This is scary stuff so prepare for sweaty hands, a rapid heart rate, nervous tension, sporadic muscle reflexes and “diarrhea”. 😬 Proceed with caution just as you would in a buried mine field!

After the gluey start and sticky finish approaching 3:00 am, a thought bolted in my head, as if it were “lightning” in a thunderous storm.

“CHECK THE DATE, AS TO WHEN THIS 1879 WESTERN CANADA POST OFFICE WAS OPEN. YES 1879 !!”

True News!!

Every Postal Historian would definitely check the specific opening date of the post office and compare it to the date on “what was becoming” a very scarce Western Canada cover!

Well, here are the facts:

Post Office Opened:  February 1st, 1879

Cover Dated:  April 27th, 1879

Receiver On Reverse:  April 23rd, 1879

Fake News? or True News?

The cover was sent two (2) Months & twenty-seven (27) Days after the post office opened!

Now, I’m thinking ERD (Earliest Reported Date)?

POSTAL HISTORIANS?  THOUGHTS?

If you have read this account to the end, you are one of the first in the “Iron Man” or “Iron Women” MJR advisory studies.
