IS THE OBSESSION OF COLLECTING POSTCARDS &/Or POSTAL HISTORY INCREASING OR DECREASING???

Hello Collectors,
What Do You Think? (continued from June 10th, 2022)
IS THE OBSESSION OF COLLECTING POSTCARDS &/Or POSTAL HISTORY INCREASING OR DECREASING???
As previously mentioned MJR Postcards & Covers was incorporated in 1984. (At that time a very high majority of collectors were older than MJR’s founder John Bucci).
It is now 2022 and for the most part, collectors are younger than back in the old days. There is a very good indication that younger collectors are surfacing more and more….and the diversity of interest is “whatever the collectors want it to be”!
Recently, a few philatelic and postcard shows have shown strong numbers in attendance and the organizers have become increasingly creative when hosting these events (in comparison to the old days).  As demonstrated at recent shows, collectors enjoy the opportunity to “get out” to talk about their collections and socialize with old friends.
Additionally, it is helpful to visually inspect the product you are buying for condition or clarity of cancellations. By all accounts, the collecting hobby at shows/events is doing well with strong evidence of younger collectors.
“Online” marketing of postcards and postal history has increased. Although Covid 19 had a devastating effect on hundreds of thousands of jobs, the “eTrade” or “eBusiness” (which includes MJR) grew stronger - as home-bound people purchased more & more items online.
Why was this the case for collecting postcards &/or postal history?
When restrictions to “stay at home” were put in place, albums were dragged out from the back of the closet & interest in the hobby was renewed. The ball started rolling again but with a different twist.  As philatelic shows were cancelled, collectors turned to the internet to grow their collections.
Online purchases accelerated and product was bouncing all over the world.  Some seniors became comfortable with the technology; some engaged family or friends to help them navigate the websites but generally most seniors were just apprehensive of cyberspace and stayed away.
KUDOS FOR THOSE “SENIOR COLLECTORS” WHO TOOK THE STEEP LEARNING CURVE TO BECOME “COMPUTER SAVY” AND “BUYERS” ON THE INTERNET, or SOLICITED ASSISTANCE !!!
Let’s shake our heads a bit. ————————But what for?
Based on MJR’s experience, there are a lot of online purchases and activity.
AND, the GOOD NEWS:
Younger collectors are out there having “fun”!  The passion is contagious!
COLLECTING POSTCARDS &/Or POSTAL HISTORY IS VERY STRONG!!!
On another note:
